Freely programmable regulator

REG-DP

The freely programmable REG-DP arc suppression coil regulator is used in medium and high-voltage networks to regulate continuous, variable-under-load arc suppression coils (Petersen coils, also known as P-coils or E-coils). In addition, they can handle all other control, measurement and regulation tasks having to do with arc suppression coils. The device comes as a 19″ plug-in component for surface mounting or insertion.

A diverse range of functions for the reliable control of arc suppression coils

When this device was designed, the focus was on a wide range of applications. Correspondingly, the arc suppression coil regulator has been equipped with a large number of functions. The device can handle numerous tasks:

  • Reliable regulation of the Petersen / arc suppression coil
  • Logbook and recorder
  • Regulator statistics display
  • Umin and Umax monitoring functions
  • Automatic resistor control
  • Parallel regulation with and without communication between the regulators
  • Freely programmable parameters for binary inputs and outputs, analogue channels and free combination of signals (UserBAFs)

Freely programmable for customer-specific adaptation

Thanks to our long years of experience, we know that each customer and every project will make different demands of the arc suppression coil. That is why we designed the REG-DP so that it could be freely programmed to meet these demands and achieve the special tasks assigned to it.

The right SCADA connections for every application

The REG-DP regulator can be connected via REG-P, REG-PE or REG-PEDsv control units. The following protocols are available (further protocols on request):

  • IEC 60870-5-101 / 103 / 104
  • IEC 61850
  • DNP 3.0 RTU / DNP 3.0 TCP
  • MODBUS RTU / MODBUS TCP
  • SPABUS

Reliable regulation in case of earth faults

During an earth fault, the regulator can correct the arc suppression coil by a certain amount and thus, say, adjust the network to the resonance or shut it down.

The current injection as an aid to the successful adjustment of the arc suppression coil

The classic regulation process, i.e. searching for the resonance curve across the range of travel of the coil, can no longer successfully adjust the arc suppression coil in certain network situations.
We have developed this current injection for the frequent cases where the zero-sequence voltage is highly disturbed or subject to extreme influences or where networks are highly symmetrical. The current injection creates a signal that is fed into the network via the auxiliary power winding of the arc suppression coil. From the network reaction, the REG-DP is able to calculate a resonance curve.
